Handy Tech Maintenance derived its name from the diversity of its owner, James Steenkamp, who has a wealth of knowledge  in the electronic industry.

James started his career in the electronic industry at Philips Electrical in Rhodesia.  He purchased the consumer division of Philips Electrical and re branded it as a new company called ‘Focus Electrical’ Focus Electrical was based in Masasa and was very successful in assembling televisions and sound systems for Philips Electrical for supply to the retail outlets in Harare and Bulawayo. The company was also deeply involved in the early satellite dishes & satellite systems, High-Definition Television and top end Sound.

James emigrated from Harare, Zimbabwe in 2000 and enjoyed working in the Northern suburbs of Sandton City installing high end Audio and video equipment such as Bang & Olufsen, Denon, Harmon Kardon and Loewe. He relocated to the Coast  and has branched out now into security solutions and installations of garage doors, gate automation & access control systems. James has kept up with every changing electronic industry to offer his best services to the public.


We are located in Ballito and operate in the surrounding suburbs.
